Vianne Palffy from Norfolk was runner up in the U16 Invitational Winter Nationals at Roehampton at the weekend. The top 16 players from 2 national qualifying events qualified for the grade 1 event at Roehampton on the weekend of 16/17/18th March.

Vianne was seeded 4 for the event. She opened up her tournament against Abbie Tyler of Dorset winning 6-2 7-5. Her quarter final opponent Aisling Mcgrane from Hampshire IOW standing at 6’2 was a daunting proposition. Vianne however came through the match winning 6-4 6-1. Her semi-final opponent was Annabel Davis from Hertforshire who had beaten the number 1 seed in the quarter final. Vianne played a really solid match maintaining a high level of concentration coming through 6-1 6-3 taking her through to the final.

Vianne came up against a very strong number 2 seed in Amelia Rajecki in the final where she was beaten but it was a successful weekend nontheless.

Vianne who trains at Easton College Tennis Centre has really progressed over the last couple of months which is showing in her results and now reaching her first National final.
